Last year I made a set of beermats featuring 'Knox's Ten Rules for Detective Fiction', which Ronald Knox – Catholic priest and writer of detective stories – laid down in 1929 as rules for the writing of crime fiction that would fairly allow the reader to attempt to solve the mystery alongside or before the detective in a given novel. These having sold, I wanted to reprint the rules in a new format, so made them up as a set of postcards.
