Four cards printed from inscriptions that feature in Gareth Howell-Jones' book, 'Your Lowly Hedgehog Knows' (information about which can be found in the 'Book Design and Layout' section on this site). From top left they read: 'We are all born of the same celestial seed' (Lucretius), 'I have never put my hope in any other but thee' (the 11th century Sarum Rite, used by Thomas Tallis for his motet, c.1571); 'I can, therefore I am' (Simone Weil), and 'You cannot arrive at so great a secret by one path only' (Symmachus).
