As with my print of John Donne’s ‘No Man is an Iland’, WISDOM is typeset and printed in 12 point Caslon, with long-s variations and ligatures. The words are drawn from a book I came across in Hay market one day, entitled, ‘The Preceptor : A General Course of Education wherein the First Principles of Polite Learning are laid down in a Way most suitable for trying the Genius, and advancing the Instruction of Youth’ (1775). The print features a little hand-colouring in the flowers.
